Michael Jordan is one of the most notable basketball players throughout the history of the game. Raised in Wilmington, North Carolina, Jordan was an avid athlete throughout high school. As a Junior, Jordan's height spiked to 6'3", which helped kickstart his varsity basketball career on the school's team. His peak performance in this time secured him a basketball scholarship with five different universities, of which he chose the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The NBA describe Michael Jordan as the "greatest basketball player of all time", which explains why he is the longstanding titleholder for highest career regular-season scoring average of 33.45 points per game. The iconic player spent six seasons with the Chicago Bulls and returned to the game as a Washington Wizard for two last seasons in 2001, before permanently retiring in 2003. He has since acquired the Charlotte Hornets, his home state's professional basketball team.
