Iconic Former Footballer, Zinedine Zidane, Awarded a Dubai Star

Known affectionately as ‘Zizou,’ Zinedine Yazid Zidane is a renowned former professional football player turned club manager, currently coaching Real Madrid. Born to a family of Algerian immigrants on June 23rd, 1972 in Marseille, France, Zidane’s legendary technique and fighting spirit were honed on the streets of his neighbourhood. After a stint through local youth clubs, he was picked up by AS Cannes, a French Football Federation training camp, developing his skills until his professional entry into football at 17. An exceptional playmaker, Zidane is widely recognized as one of the best technical players that ever lived, admired for his vision, creative strategy and ball control – impressing the likes of Maradona. His prowess, coupled with his being one of only eight players to have won the trifecta of FIFA World Cup, UEFA Champions League and Ballon d’Or, led him to be showered with accolades during his career.
