Hazza Al Mansouri – The First Emirati in Space

Born on December 13, 1983, Hazza Al Mansouri is an Emirati astronaut. On September 25, 2019, Al Mansouri made history as the first Emirati to go to space. His space mission lasted eight days. Mansouri's role on the International Space Station was as Spaceflight Participant in the explorations of microgravity as set out by NASA and the Russian Federal Space Agency. Hazza Al Mansouri initially started his career as a military pilot with the UAE Armed Forces; however, due to his fascination with stars and space, Al Mansouri chose to take a leap and register for the UAE Astronaut Programme through the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre. The tests required for admission into the program were extensive, and the candidate pool was 4,022 people strong. In the end, Hazza Al Mansouri had the privilege of being one of two individuals selected to travel to space.
